Reporter Phil:)

Hey everybody! One of the parts of our movie that I am most excited for is when the reporter is breaking the scary news about the virus to a group of friends. He comes back once more later in the movie for a safety announcement regarding a vaccine. This reoccurring character: reporter Phil, becomes symbolic of the media and creates a parallel to the real world. The COVID-19 pandemic has been going on since before any of us knew we were going to get to take this class, so since our movie revolves around a similar theme, we knew what we had to include. The media and news stations have played a huge role in our society during this pandemic so we included reporter Phil in an obvious way that would get that message and that feeling across. Reporter Phil is being portrayed by none other than Philip Stein, Chloe's dad. Mr. Stein is very excited about his part and we are eager to see him perform it. Phil's part is also one of the easiest ones to schedule since we are filming it separately and Chloe can do it anytime they are both available. I ended up collaborating with Chloe for this since she wanted a second (and sometimes an outside) opinion on her filming choices. We do not have the resources to superimpose reporter Phil onto the TV, so we will be adding in his part postproduction in our editing process. Because of this, Chloe wanted to make sure she filmed it in a way that would make this possible. Chloe and I discussed Phil's costume, background, setting, tone of voice, and more. We went with a black suit since it is formal and is what most news anchors wear. The background and setting was a blank wall and Mr. Stein's desk. We also added a few props that contributed to the news anchor and news report feel. We even made sure that Phil used a stern and urgent tone of voice. We will use editing software to frame the clips and put titles around him so that it looks as real and believable as possible. Chloe sent me the clips she got and I am so happy with how they turned out. Both of them did a great job and I can't wait to incorporate them into our film since I know they will add so much.
