Thanksgiving Break: to film or not to film?
Happy Thanksgiving! This past week, November 23-27, we have had no school due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Half of my film group went away and celebrated Thanksgiving with their families somewhere else. We did all stay in contact, however, through our texting group chat. We spoke quite often about the social media, blogging, filming ideas, details, and any other concerns we may have had. In our chat we made the decision, as previously discussed in my last blog, to only include copyright-free music in our film in order to avoid having to ask an artist for permission which could be time consuming and could alter our filming schedule. We also talked about our individual blogs and decided what information we wanted to include within them so that we could all be on the same page. I did meet with one group member, Chloe Stein, over the break since we were both in the same place. Chloe and I met (and social distanced!) to discuss our personal ideas for filming and also to do some research regarding the music in the film. As a whole group, we also made some big decisions regarding our filming schedule. Everyone is quite busy so sometimes schedules can be hard. We have to work around sports, jobs, school, and family obligations, so this discussion was very necessary. We additionally took a look at our storyboard together and started to talk about how we were planning on executing the actions and camera angles being depicted in our blueprint. We have access to a drone, courtesy of Blake, and we will most likely be using Hillery's car since driving and transportation is seen in a lot of our shots. Our sets are also all ready to go, we'll be using Chloe's neighborhood and house as well as my house to film the majority of our content. I also liked discussing some ideas that I have for our social media accounts. I think it would be fun to interact with our followers and supporters as much as possible in order to immerse them into the filming experience and get them invested in the plot. I think that including interviews with actors and each of us as the directors would also be something fun and interesting to share on our Instagram and Youtube. I will continue to research the things that I like to see in a movie and on a movie page and we will hopefully be able to include some of those elements in our socials. I think our group really does have an incredible dynamic and I'm excited to see what we will produce in every aspect of our project.
